Social and Recreational

Recreational activities are important for developing social and communication skills, which can improve a person’s ability to live and work in the community, and contribute to a successful and fulfilled life.

Recognizing this need, The Arc of Delaware provides recreational opportunities in the community for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to socialize and have fun.

Among other activities, our monthly dances are very popular and always draw a crowd, whether in person or virtual. As Covid restrictions ease, we expect to once again schedule picnics, movie nights and other social events. Please check our calendar of events and our FaceBook page for more information.

Our dances and other social events rely on a host of volunteers who greet, mingle, serve refreshments, assist mobility and enjoy the interaction. Please contact us at (302) 996-9400 to learn more about how you can join in the fun.

2020 Sponsors

Many of our recreational activities would not be possible without the generous support of community sponsors. We acknowledge and appreciate all of the businesses and organizations that so generously help to improve the lives of people with IDD in Delaware.
