The Arc of Delaware is pleased to announce that it has received a renewable $25,000 grant from the Delaware Disabilities Council to support development of a new statewide self-advocacy program in 2022!
The goal of the project is to establish a strong, core group of Delaware self-advocates, led by people with disabilities, that will continue to evolve and grow.
The DD Council approved The Arc of Delaware proposal to establish a new department within The Arc to be headed by self-advocate Benjamin Shrader. Ben will be the Director of Self-Advocacy, and The Arc will provide the supports necessary for him to be successful.
“This award is a huge step forward in advancing our mission to protect rights and promote choices for people with IDD,” said Susannah Eaton-Ryan, executive director of The Arc of Delaware. “We look forward to working with Ben to amplify the voice of self-advocates on matters of policy, regulation and community integration in Delaware.”
